Resurfacing of Village Roads
From its very beginning San Lawrenz Council always worked hard to give its locals the roads they deserved as citizens. In 1996 the Council resurfaced three streets - Nicolas Monsarrat, Bieb il-Ghar and Dun Salv Portelli. In the following years, the work continued with the resurfacing of Wied Merrill Street at a cost of Lm15,939. In the meantime, thanks to the Ministry for Gozo, two more roads were resurfaced, namely Wileg Street and part of the Gebla tal-General Road.
The Council continued its work by resurfacing Ciangura Street and part of the Gebla tal-General Road. All the roads had the water mains renewed and a water culvert was dug up in Ciangura Street.
The Council also provided and installed metal covers for the holes in the roads used for the flagposts during the annual feast. Hence there will be no need to dig up the roads regularly and the work undertaken by volunteers in preparation for the village feast becomes easier.
